Would you like to be a community reporter? Come along on 17 June and learn how easy it is to get started.

Do you love living in your local area? Are you passionate about the local news and events that happen in your community?

We are currently looking for a team of community reporters in the Calne, Chippenham, Corsham, Malmesbury, Marlborough and Royal Wootton Basset & Cricklade community areas and if the answer is yes to the above, please get in touch!

We are offering a workshop for those of you living in the northern community areas; to show you how easy it is to get started. The workshop will take place at the council’s Monkton Park offices, Chippenham, on Tuesday 17 June from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Please feel free to bring your smart phones, ipads and laptops with you.

Community reporting is a fun way to share good news stories about your life and all the positive activities that are happening in the wider community using words, pictures, video or audio! It is easy to learn and you will be supported every step of the way. You will meet up regularly with other reporters to plan campaigns and share ideas for future stories.

This may involve attending local events, interviewing people in your local area and reviewing and providing recommendations for local shows and activities. You might be a job seeker, you might be newly retired, on a gap year or you might simply have a few hours on your hands. If so, we will provide you with the training and equipment you need to become one of Wiltshire’s volunteer community reporters.

Your mission (should you choose to accept it) will be to seek out interesting news, attend events and activities, talk to participants, record them on video and post your stories online, on this site – where thousands of people will view your work.
Here is just one example of community reporting in action happening elsewhere in the country.
