Springfield campus news

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and enjoying this summery period that we are experiencing. It’s warmer that Brazil, apparently, although don’t tell the football fans that!

I am pleased to announce that Right Honourable Francis Maude MP will be visiting Corsham this Friday, 13 June. Francis Maude, as government minister with responsibility for public sector reform and efficiency (among other things), will be paying a visit to the Corsham campus site to learn more about Wiltshire Council’s campus programme. This presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase not only Corsham’s own campus, but also the overall campus vision of creating vibrant community hubs that bring communities and community services together. Look out for further information and photographs in next week’s update.

Are you a user of Twitter? If so, please follow campus news and updates now by following @CorshamCampus. Twitter is now recognised as one of the key social media outlets, and I am delighted to already be engaging with over 60 local people, businesses and community groups in the first couple of days since the account was set up. Please follow @CorshamCampus on Twitter now, and spread the word. Follow this link directly to the Campus Twitter page.

Over the past week, I have continued to meet with the local community at every opportunity to introduce myself and showcase what the campus has to offer. Last Thursday evening I attended the Corsham Area Board and provided a general campus update. I was also very pleased to be invited to attend Corsham Town Council’s meeting on Monday evening, and it was great to meet the local councillors and to witness their enthusiasm for the campus.

The campus contractors, Midas, are currently working overtime to see through the final stages of the current build phase as quickly as possible. I hope to be in a position to update further next week regarding interim opening proposals.

In the meantime, do please contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.

Enjoy the weekend.
