This week started with some royal treatment when HRH the Duchess of Cornwall came to Wiltshire to officially open Wiltshire Council’s refurbished County Hall offices in Trowbridge.
County Hall is exemplary of Wiltshire Council’s commitment to creating modern, fit-for-purpose buildings, much like the campus programme – and it’s certainly worth a visit if you want to get a flavour for how Springfield campus might look and feel. The library in County Hall is particularly impressive with a fantastic children’s area – similar to the plans for Springfield campus.
Myself, Allan Bosley (Chairman of the Campus Community Operations Board) and Alan Macrae (Chairman of the Area Board) were introduced to the Duchess to explain to her about the plans for Springfield. She was very interested and even suggested that she would like to visit one day.
We are currently busily working on a schedule to get the campus open to the public and community users later this summer. The construction stage of the new-build is very nearly complete, but there is quite a bit of work to do to get the building ready, including snagging, FM fit-out, IT infrastructure installation and getting all the necessary furniture in. We appreciate that people are keen to get in and start using the facilities as soon as possible and so this work will be done as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Don’t forget to follow the campus on Twitter ‘@CorshamCampus’ and as usual, please get in touch if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.
Have a great weekend.
