I want to bring to your attention an exciting new project being run by the council where vulnerable individuals are able to purchase ex Wiltshire Council laptops.
The laptops are refurbished by a Bristol company called Byteback. They have the operating system windows 7 and the office application is Libra (a basic software package). Adobe reader is not included in this package. The laptops are aimed at individuals for basic home use only. The cost of the laptop is £59.50 and this cost includes a laptop bag, a mouse and a six month warranty.
In order to qualify for the scheme individuals must meet one of the following criteria:
• Over 65
• Full Time Carer (note could include Young carers)
• Have a disability
• Receiving means tested benefit
We are keen that our partners working with families who would benefit from this offer support them in applying for a laptop. Agencies will need to confirm their client meets one of the criteria. For each laptop purchased an application form will need to be completed in the first instance by the agency on behalf of the client. This only requires, name of the customer, address and contact details and selecting the eligibility criteria the customer meets. A supply of application forms can be obtained by post from the address below and once completed forms need to be returned to that address.

For further information or if you have any queries please contact Sukhvir Kaur or Laura Hopkins (Sukh.email@example.com firstname.lastname@example.org). Please do not pass these contact details to clients – Laura or Sukhvir will contact the customer direct by using the number provided on the application form to inform them when a laptop will be available. They will arrange a suitable time to meet them to hand over the lap top at one of the following locations:
• County Hall, Trowbridge
• Monkton Park, Chippenham
• Snuff Street, Devizes
• Milford Street Salisbury
