Market roadshow in Corsham

Wiltshire’s bustling markets will be in the spotlight from next week at a series of roadshows highlighting what products are on offer, and how starting a trade at a market stall can be a good first move into business.
On Tuesday May 21 the roadshow will be at Corsham market at Newlands Road Car Park from 10am to 2pm as part of the national Love your Local Market Campaign which runs from May 15 to 29.
Teams from Wiltshire Council will be providing information about how to get on the business ladder by becoming a market trader. People will also be asked to give their views on their local market via a quick survey and entered into a prize draw to win £25 to spend at their local market.
Head of environment services Ian Brown said: “Our market towns and villages have a special atmosphere on market days and we have traders selling all kinds of goods. Many a business success story has started on a market stall and we hope to attract some would-be entrepreneurs to try out their trades from one of the stalls.”
Wiltshire Council runs 16 markets weekly http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/communityandliving/markets.htm For those starting up on a market there are special introductory rates available for all new traders for a period of two months. A typical three metre pitch will cost just £15 per day for the first two months. After two months of trading, traders can be licensed to guarantee them their pitch, so customers know exactly where to find the trader. For those who do not have their own stall there is an indoor market in Devizes where tables and covers are provided.
