Local schools come together for Springfield’s ‘Going for Goals’ football tournament

This week, Springfield Community Campus hosted an exciting football tournament for local schoolchildren in partnership with the Chelsea Football Club Foundation.

50 young schoolchildren from a number of local primary schools in the Corsham community area took to the campus’ all-weather pitch on Tuesday 10 February to play a series of matches against each other.

The event was support by 10 students from The Corsham School who assisted in their capacity as Sports Leaders, helping with entertaining the children in-between matches, refereeing games, time keeping, scoring and acting as linesmen.

The St Mary’s School’s ‘A Team’ was the winning team on the day, winning a trophy but, most importantly, a trip to Chelsea Football Club’s training ground to compete in a grand final against the other Wiltshire sites winners.

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all the schoolchildren that participated who were a credit to the schools they were representing.
