Leafy Lane playing fields benefits from area board grant

Leafy Lane Playing Fields recently benefitted from a grant from Corsham Area Board for £983 to purchase matting to create a much-needed overspill car parking facility at Leafy Lane Playing Fields.

Leafy Lane Playing Fields provides football pitches and changing facilities for both adult and youth teams. The facility is home to local clubs, including the local youth football club; AFC Corsham. This club is a major use of the facilities at Leafy Lane and has grown its membership recently from 175 to 270 players.

The facility is looking to expand over the next few years to include girls football provision, and rugby. This will improve the usage of the facility, and the requirement for car parking, even further.

There are also aspirations to improve and renovate parts of the changing rooms in the future to create more of a ‘club house’ type facility with a bar and social area.

A representative of Leafy Lane Playing Fields said “thanks to the generous area board grant we have purchased 150m sq of matting which is being laid by Leafy Lane Volunteers over a 5 day period.

This will provide much need car parking on our busy days, helping to keep cars from parking on the busy Leafy Lane and local roads.”
