Wiltshire Council is encouraging Area Boards to identify champions in each of the county’s community areas who will have a key role in representing the views of older people and carers at both a local and county wide level.
Corsham Community Area has sought to recruit a champion and advertised this vacancy widely in the area both through posters and electronically.
We have received an excellent application from a lady who wishes to be considered. Although she lives slightly outside our community area, we are confident that she has the necessary skills, experience and passion to do this role.
We would like to make an appointment within the next couple of weeks. This is therefore to let you know what is taking place, in case you have any questions, and a last call for you to nominate anyone else that you would also like to be considered for this role. To do so, please complete the brief nomination form that can be found at http://www.springfieldcampus.org.uk/news and return it to Richard.Rogers@wiltshire.gov.uk by the 17th June.
We are delighted to have secured the services of Kevin Gaskin to help us take forward the health and wellbeing agenda. With the ‘Health and Wellbeing Group’ due to meet for the first time in early July, a wider network meeting being planned soon afterwards and the commitment of our key partners, the appointment of the older person’s champion is the last piece in the jigsaw to allow us to support the community and the good work that already takes place.
If you would like to find out more then do contact me. We will also be looking for local neighbourhood volunteer coordinators and if this is something you may be interested in helping with I would love to talk to you about it Contact Richard Rogers at Richard.Rogers@wiltshire.gov.uk
