Grants available for arts projects

People in Corsham are being encouraged to apply for an arts project grant, to help fund creative projects which will benefit their community.
The Wiltshire Council-run arts project grant scheme, is open to all voluntary and community organisations, but not individuals.
Arts projects can cover a wide range of creative opportunities, including visual arts, crafts, media and digital art forms, literature and performing arts.
The deadline for applications is September 30, 2012 for projects that will take place between November 2012 and October 2013. The maximum amount that can be applied for per application is £4,000 and applications are encouraged with strong partnership funding and support.
The scheme has funded some impressive community arts projects including ‘When You Go Away’ – a project which invited hundreds of school children from military families to make a clay figure of a loved one who was serving overseas. More than 1,600 clay figures were exhibited together at the Young Gallery in Salisbury Library.
Recent awards have been made to Two Destination Language to deliver ‘FLINT’ a two day interdisciplinary microfestival of contemporary work in Salisbury and Corsham, and to Bodyjack to deliver ‘Nascent’ a project exploring dance creation and sharing in west Wiltshire.
If people would like to contact a Wiltshire Council arts officer they can email arts@wiltshire.gov.uk or call 01249 705531.
