Get walking this February with guded walks


Cotswold Voluntary Wardens hold regular guided walks in the Southern Cotswolds. Why not join one this February. Details of each of them are below or go to for full details

Tuesday Tramp in Colerne Parish. 3 hrs. 5 miles. Moderate.
Start at 10.00 am at The Fox and Hounds Public House in Colerne,
OS Map ST 818711. Park at pub or adjacent Constitutional Club.
Bring a mid-morning munchie. Lunch available at pub. Not suitable for pushchairs.

Steep, Like the Cotswolds. 3.5 hrs. 6 miles. Strenuous.
Start at 09.30 am at the Cross Keys pub, Southstoke Road, Combe Down, Bath. OS Map ST 748618. Challenge yourselves and Test your New Year resolutions with one of the hardest walks in the Cotswolds with 500m of ascent and descent among the hills of Combe Hay, Southstoke and Midford. Lunch available at the pub afterwards. Not suitable for pushchairs.

Marshfield – Town and Country. 2.5 hrs. 4.5 miles. Moderate.
Start at 10.30 am. at Market Place, Marshfield. OS Map ST 781737. A walk along the High Street to the Almshouses then taking bridleways south to Ashwicke returning through fields on footpaths (no stiles). Lunch choice of two pubs and a teashop afterwards. Families welcome.

Over Charmy Down. 5.5 hrs. 9.5 miles. Strenuous.
Start at 10.00 am. at Lay-by on the A420 west of Marshfield. OS Map ST 772737. The walk goes down into St Catherine’s valley via the Green Lane, a climb then to the old airfield which is crossed to Ramscombe Bottom. A short length of the Limestone Link before climbing to Ashwicke and returning via Marshfield. Please bring a picnic lunch.

Town and Country. 7.0 hrs. 10 miles. Strenuous.
Start at 10.00 am at Cherington village centre. OS Map ST 903987. Please park considerately. Cherington is a small village approximately 3 miles SE of Nailsworth and about 1 mile east of Avening. From the village the walk progresses over open country to Tetbury where there will be a lunch and pub drink stop. The return passes through the town to Chavenage House then uses the Macmillan Way northwards via Avening. Please bring a picnic lunch.
