Fun and frightening Halloween theatre workshops led by The Last Baguette

In September and October 2016 The Last Baguette theatre company called young actors and theatre makers in the Bradford on Avon, Corsham and Malmesbury areas to take part in free, fun and frightening Halloween theatre workshops.

There were a total of 7 Local Youth Network funded workshops and the young people could either come to the whole series or just drop in to one. Participants used physical theatre, characterisation and costume to develop scary scenes and spooky stories.

“It was really really fun and they loved it” said one Corsham mum, whose children have since joined the Pound youth theatre group.

These workshops were part of an outreach project in conjunction with The Last Baguette’s new production Dracula, a Terrifying Comedy which toured Wiltshire and the Southwest. Workshop participants were offered free tickets to see the show at a venue of their choice. Other outreach work included performances and workshops for Malmesbury and Corsham secondary schools.

The Last Baguette are based at Pound Arts in Corsham and run a weekly youth theatre for young people there. The theatre company makes fast-paced, irreverent physical comedy and was formed in Paris in 2009 by graduates of the Philippe Gaulier and Jacques Lecoq schools, out of a shared love of comedy, bakery and horror. After performing in France, Switzerland and Canada, The Last Baguette are making their long-term home in Wiltshire.
