A new programme of free training workshops for social enterprises in Wiltshire is being organised by Community First and Silva Social Enterprises.
The workshops are free to social enterprises and community businesses who want to scale up and improve their offering. The courses will cover everything someone involved in a social enterprise needs to know from marketing and winning contracts, getting the most from finances and investment, to managing volunteers and staff.
The workshops will emphasise real world learning with opportunities for networking and mentoring with other organisations.
Gemma Harding-Wyatt, from Unity House in Chippenham attended the last round of workshops and since then her social enterprise, Lunch Bunch, has really taken off.
“Unity House provides support for homeless people with complex needs. We wanted to help our residents become more enterprising. We attended the last round of workshops and the knowledge we gained as well as the support from our business mentor helped to make our social enterprise, Lunch Bunch a success.”
“Our residents who are involved in Lunch Bunch, grow the food which they use to make delicious lunches and which they sell to local businesses. Our residents get the incentive to work and earn as well as learning new skills.”
There are 20 spaces available on the programme of eight workshops take place at venues across the county between October this year and August 2015. Attendees can choose to book a place on one or all of the workshops.
