The 2016 Corsham Walking Festival, based at Springfield Community Campus, was a great success – attracting over 400 walkers and volunteers. Many walks sold out and over 80 people enjoyed the evening quiz and delicious supper.
A grant from Wiltshire Council enabled the purchase of display boards to boost our publicity efforts and maintain a presence at local events, such as the Big Get Together and Box Revels. The displays generated considerable interest in the festival and local walking groups – encouraging people to enjoy the fun and healthy benefits of walking. Displays included maps and photos of walk locations, inviting people to identify these, so bringing the walking festival concept alive.
The 2017 Festival dates are 9th – 11th June, and include old favourites, new adventures and some longer walks. Booking starts on 3rd April via our website http://corshamwalkingfestival.org.uk/ or at The Pound Arts Centre.
Our brochure will be available in March and you can find us on Facebook. We hope to see you soon at our local displays, including the Grand Opening of Springfield Community Campus on 16th February, and at the festival itself.
With an amazing variety of walk themes such as Brunel’s railway, quarry tramways, geology, wildflowers and treasure hunt, the Corsham Walking Festival goes from strength to strength becoming an essential part of the Corsham summer.
