Corsham footbridge reconstruction

Corsham footbridge reconstruction

The Great Western Route Modernisation programme will transform the Great Western Mainline from London Paddington to Swansea to bring Brunel’s railway into the 21st century. Benefits include:

• New cleaner, greener electric intercity trains with more seats
• More reliable journeys thanks to upgraded signalling
• A quieter service for people living near the railway

Please bear with us while we undertake these essential works to transform and modernise Brunel’s railway.

How does this affect me?
In order to accommodate the new trains and electrification infrastructure we need to reconstruct Corsham footbridge. To facilitate these works, we need to close the bridge this spring.

Key facts
Proposed date for footpath closure: 2nd March 2015
Proposed date for footpath opening: June 2015

During the period of closure a diversion route, illustrated in the picture above, will be in operation.
