The Corsham Health and Wellbeing Group was established by the Corsham Area Board to bring together activities and organisations that support older and vulnerable people.
On Tuesday, one of it’s projects called ‘Celebrating Age’ got started. Its purpose is to run free or heavily discounted arts opportunities for those who are elderly within our community area. We held our first event in Box Methodist Church on Tuesday with over 30 people enjoying music, singing, dancing and a lunch together. It is the first of many events that we are putting together with the support of the Arts Council and our partners.
The next event will be in Colerne on the 8th December at the Community Café between 3pm and 4.30pm. It will be a vintage musical tea party with classics to modern music and songs from Francesca K. It is free to attend and £3 for a selection of cakes, scones and tea.
Plans are also being put together for a big ‘celebrating Age’ event during the day on January 17th that will take place at Springfield Community Campus. More to follow on this very shortly but put the date in your diary.
This project will hopefully continue for 3 years so if you are part of a older people’s group, a care home, or any other group that would like an event held, do please get in touch with Richard.email@example.com
Alongside the Celebrating Age project, lots of other work is taking place. This week we have held a slipper exchange in Colerne and the monthly ‘Meet Your Neighbour’ coffee morning with a theme of winter warmers.
