About 100 people came along to Springfiled Campus to enjoy an event organised by Corsham Health and Wellbeing Group. Aimed at older people, it was a chance to have a lunch provided, meet new people and sing along (and dance) to the folk band “Raggle Taggle”
The event was extremely well received and was free to attend. Most of the food was provided by Wiltshire Farm Foods who kindly offered their services for free. Comments included “Most enjoyable time I have had for years” and “it was so good to get out, have fun and meet other people”.
The event was in turn a celebration of a project called ‘Celebrating Age” that the Corsham health and Wellbeing group are supporting. It aims to hold 10 events a year for 3 years where live performances are brought to local locations in the Corsham Community Area. The purpose is to offer older people who may not be able to travel far, an opportunity of enjoying them.
Box Methodist Church hosted the first one in November 2017 and Colerne held one in December. Lacock and Neston are also going to hold them over the next few months. If you are interested in hosting an event where you are then do get in touch with Kevin Gaskin to talk it through.
