Springfield Community Gardens Work Day
Sat 7th April, 2pm
One of the great things about spring and the days getting longer is that we can now get outside again. Last year, members of the local community working with Transcoco started work on the outside space at Springfield Community Campus Corsham. They transformed the space into the Springfield Community Gardens and their hard work was rewarded by a SIlver Gilt award given by South West in Bloom.
There are plans to further improve the area including installing interpretation boards. They are being produced so that everyone can learn about and enjoy the wildflower areas that exist.
However, as all gardeners know, come the spring and there is a need to do some essential tasks. For us this will include:
– mowing the edge strips and paths
– weeding/tidying edges and paving
– raking mulch and pruning trees
– tidying and organising the tool shed
– and anything else that needs doing.
We are therefore holding a working party and asking for anyone who is willing to spare a few hours to come along and help out. We will meet at 2pm at the entrance to Springfield Campus. We have some tools on site but it would be useful if you can bring trowels, rakes, spades etc to ensure we have all the tools we need.
It is a great opportunity to get some fresh air, make a difference and meet like-minded people. Hope you can make it.
