Businesses asked to support ‘Clean Up Wilts’ campaign

crunch-time

Community groups across the Corsham area and throughout Wiltshire are busy organising community litter picks as party of Great British Spring Clean run by ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ and supported by Wiltshire Council.

This will take place on the weekend of 2nd – 4th March and if you have not already organised a litter pick in your area or joined one that is happening, please contact Richard.Rogers@wiltshire.gov.uk

This year there is a focus upon preventing waste in the first place and ensuring that as much of it is binned and recycled as possible.

As well as the huge financial cost to us all, litter is a problem because it damages areas where we live, work and play. It also poses a threat to the public health due to the harm caused on water systems, oceans as well as rivers. It kills the environment and increases the amount of global warming

We are therefore asking businesses to join their communities in supporting the campaign. This can be in many different ways from simply signing the pledge to support it and do what you can to reduce unnecessary waste through to sponsoring clean ups, making sure it is easy for customers to recycle, or organising a clean up yourself.

A toolkit for businesses is available on-line at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/cleanupwilts
