20th July 6.30pm, Brunel room, Springfield Campus. (Free and all welcome)
Join us for some refreshments, a chance to chat with each other and look round the changes at Springfield Community gardens before a time from 7pm when we can share and learn more a bout a few of the local environmental projects being undertaken by our community.
This will include the work in progress at Springfield campus to improve the community gardens. Last summer it became evident that the grounds were looking messy and were not encouraging people to stop and enjoy them. It was realised that unless some action was taken then this situation would become worse and complaints increase. As a result, the Corsham Area Board agreed to support the community to improve the area and this is the time to find out what has been going on and what is still to be done.
We will also hear from Peter Harper who is a local ecologist and has written many articles and books. He will tell us a bit more about the wildflower area
Prettying Up Pickwick will share what they have been doing,, there will be some advice from the ‘Sun and Tick’ team and TRANSCOCO will tell us about some of the events coming up including a Fairtrade day.
All we need is the Sun to Shine as well although it did not dampen spirits when the judges came in the rain on Tuesday and were impressed with the Corsham in Bloom offering.
Please do invite others along and if you want to also briefly share a green project you are involved in then let me know.
We will aim to finish this part of the evening around 7.45pm. If you need to leave at this point, then there will be an opportunity to do so. If you can stay, we would be delighted for you to join in the rest of the Area Board meeting which will carry on till no later than 8.45pm. This will be an opportunity to hear about the very latest on plans for the Mansion House and news from around the community.
I do hope that you will be able to join us on the 20th July from 6.30pm
